About the Healing Field
The Healing Field is a week-long tribute to our veterans, held November 4th - 11th at Metea. It has been incredibly popular all over the country, with local events last year at West Aurora High School and in 2012 on Rotary Hill in Naperville. The Metea Valley practice football field will be transformed into a field of 1,000 flags honoring the men and women who have served our country. We encourage the community to purchase a flag in honor of a loved one who served (or is now serving) or in simple honor of our great nation. Each flag will include a tag, and the purchaser can write a special message or dedication in honor of their loved one. According to past participants, it is a very moving experience, and every veteran has a story. At the event's conclusion, purchasers will take their flag home and enjoy it for years to come.
The Healing Field will be located on the east side of Metea Valley High School on the practice fields.
The Healing Field will be open to the public on November 4th from Noon to 10pm and on November 5-10, from 7am to 10pm.
Purchased flags can be picked up on November 11, from 8am-7pm.
The Healing Field is being financially underwritten and supported by the Metea PTSA, Athletic Booster Club and the Latino Mustangs. These parent groups would love your involvement and support.
